Hope you all loved the race...it was exciting and full of with actions! Lucas was able to finish it, this is great thing. He was struggling a lot during the race, had hydraulic problems, but he brought home Veronica. Congratulations!
Lucas: “The beginning of the race for me was very positive. I got a good start and then got by Timo and Bruno Senna and we were catching the Lotus of Jarno Trulli. The first stint was very strong and we were running in P10 for a while - our first time in a points-scoring position. Unfortunately, towards the end of the race we had a loss of hydraulic pressure and I had to stop shifting to conserve the car. A disappointing end but it was good that we were able to keep going and get the car home.”
Today was a very complicated day for Lucas. In the last seconds of the practice he spun, touched the wall and then stucked in gravel. The team had to fix his car for the quali, they did a great job. Hopefully tomorrow Lucas won't have as much problem...Good luck!
Lucas: ““It was not a very good qualifying for me today. For my second run I got a lot of traffic – especially with Kobayashi - and I was not able to extract the maximum from the car. I lost the quickest two laps because of this. The car is still some way from the optimum set-up for here so we will now look at the best strategy for the race tomorrow and do the best job possible. I’d like to thank everyone in the team for their great work in getting the car back together in time for Qualifying after my ‘off’ in Third Practice this morning.” ”
These were Lucas worst practices if we look at the result(24th & 24th), but don't forget this is his 1st time in Canada. FP1 - had to finish it earlier, he didn't set a time. FP2 - 1st experiences on the track, first timed laps and he was just 0.089s far from Timo, but actually they were the slowest. Lucas: “It was a tough day for me today because it’s my first time racing in Canada and we didn’t get the best start to the weekend. I didn’t run in the first Free Practice because we had an assembly issue with the brakes on the front left. In the second session I was trying to improve the car but we have a long way to go before we arrive at the best set-up.”
FIA press conference tomorrow 11:00(local time) Lucas will be among the drivers answering questions. Crescent Street Festival(Lucas and Timo will be there) More info
Lucas: “I’m really looking forward to racing in Canada for the first time. We had a good result in Turkey and I hope we can achieve the same outcome this weekend but with fewer frustrations along the way. With regard to the problems we had with the engine, we don’t expect to have any similar issues this time. We need a clean start on Friday in Free Practice and to keep building from there. This will be my second race with the new chassis. I’ve done some work in the simulators to prepare for this race. The first two corners are pretty tight, so it will be interesting to see how 24 cars get through there at the start of the race because it was always pretty hair-raising when it was only 10 teams rather than 12. This is a big race for Virgin on and off the race track with plenty of fun things happening at the Crescent Street Festival and hopefully the reward of best of the new teams once again.”
One more news about Lucas... He will play in a Brazilian TV series called "Passione", it will be shown on Globo, Saturday(June 12th) Watch it if you can! :) It will be a marriage scene, Lucas will be the godfather of Gerson. More details
