On lap 10, Lucas reported a hydraulic problem, and was called in to the pits for investigation. A broken hydraulic power pack was diagnosed as the problem and it ended his race...unfortunately. Better luck in Germany! Lucas: “We didn’t have a very good day. The car was good at the start but then we lost hydraulic pressure which ended my race. I am obviously disappointed but on a positive note, the car is showing great progress and I am looking forward to the next race.”
Tomorrow Lucas will be 22nd on the grid - Timo 20th. Hopefully he will do a great start as always which would mean some good positions for him. Lucas: “I think we improved the car a lot since the last race. It feels much better and I’m looking forward to the Race tomorrow. For Qualifying we didn’t achieve the best lap possible because I wasn’t able to put a lap together and there is more to come from the car. The positive is that we are much closer to Lotus and our upgrades are proven to be exactly as we expected so I’m pleased.”
Lucas did extremely well, finished front of Timo, hope this performance will continue during the whole weekend. The team brought a lot new equipments, upgrades here, so they are really improving. Lucas: “We’ve had a very productive day today. We’ve done a lot of work with the new upgrades and the car was behaving as expected throughout the sessions. I’m very happy that we are getting closer to Lotus and we are ready to go for tomorrow. I am confident we can make another step forward for qualifying.”
The news F1 weekend is here, this will be the team's home race, so they have a lot of updates.
Lucas: “Despite the fact that I’m Brazilian and Timo is German, it’s impossible not to think of this weekend as a home Grand Prix for us all and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s been a tough year putting the team together and a challenging start to our debut season, so everyone in the Team deserves a good home race this weekend and I hope that we will all get to enjoy it. Both Timo and I have been busy in the simulators this week, getting to grips with the new circuit layout and putting some virtual miles on our car with the new developments. It’s a big step for us - the biggest of the season so far - and it should give us a lot of performance benefit, so I am looking forward to driving the actual car on Friday for the first time. I really rate Silverstone as a track. I’ve only driven in GP2 here but it’s a real racing track and I can’t wait to experience it in an F1 car and with the new changes it’s going to be very exciting. I can’t wait. It’s going to be a busy weekend for sure, but there’s real buzz about the Team and after a great weekend in Valencia I hope that we can carry that through to another positive result.”
I hope everyone enjoyed the race, it was really exciting and full of with actions, Lucas did a fantastic start as always, he was front of Heikki, but we all know the car isn't as good as Lotus so he took back his place from Lucas quite early. Then everyone know what happened...Lucas and the team did a great job! Congratulations :)
Lucas said: “I’m thrilled to finish as the lead driver of the new teams for the first time today and for us to get two cars home again is a fantastic result for our team. For me it feels a bit like a victory and it was definitely one of the best races of my career. The car was performing well - exactly as we had expected it to - and we had a great pitstop which was also well-timed to manage the traffic. We are making good progress as a team and with the car. We had good pace here and this has been a positive step forward for us. We have another one coming for Silverstone - which we hope will be a good one - and then we just need to keep them coming because we are moving in the right direction.”
